What Even Is An Ex-Homeschooler?

Ex-Homeschoolers Club Issue #4

What is good my ex-homies?

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about stories and their importance. We all have them and each of them is worth sharing. I use to think that my life story was boring and really wouldn’t be of any help to people. But once I got over my imposter syndrome and started talking about my life, I’ve realized 1) my life really hasn’t been that boring 2) people can relate to “boring”.

That being said, if you’ve got a story you want to share, hit me up at [email protected]. Whether you want to share it on the show or just chat with me solo, I want to hear your story.

This week on the podcast, I explored what it truly means to be an ex-homeschooler. Is it just someone who was homeschooled and moved on, or does it come with a deeper identity shift? I shared my personal experiences of hiding my homeschool background in college, the challenges and strengths it gave me, and why I created this podcast to build a community of fellow ex-homeschoolers.

In this episode, I covered:

✔️ What defines an ex-homeschooler – The different ways people interpret the term

✔️ My personal journey – Hiding my homeschool background, rediscovering its impact, and embracing it

✔️ Strengths & struggles – How homeschooling shaped my independence but also created social and educational gaps

✔️ Why this podcast exists – Creating a space for ex-homeschoolers to share their experiences and connect

What I’m listening to

I’m gonna be a little biased but the latest episode of Homeschooled: Conversations with Alumni is pretty great! Maybe it’s because I was this week’s guest but I do love what my fellow ex-homeschooler Jenève is doing over there.

But you be the judge for yourself. So take a Listen or a Watch. I’d appreciate it!

That’s all I’ve got this week…

Until next time, thanks for the support!

Peace & Love
