Are You Asking Questions?

Ex-Homeschoolers Club Issue #5

Can you believe we’re already in April?

2025 feels like both the shortest and longest year of my life. If this year has taught me anything, it’s that asking questions is an essential part to my survival.

Sometimes I feel like an annoying toddler questioning everything but it’s actually made me a stronger person. When it comes to life, politics, religion, happiness, taxes (ugh), asking the right questions has helped me become a more rounded person.

Now, asking questions only works if you’re also willing to put in the research and education time to find answers. And with the plethora of information at our fingertips, it can be overwhelming to get started.

So here’s what I do. I set aside a designated amount of time each day to research. Once that time is up, I put it away and it’s back to my normal day.

There is an old saying, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”

That’s really how I approach getting answers to my questions. Just a little bit at a time.

This week on the podcast, I reconnected with my longtime friend Katrin (formerly Frantz) McGoogan after more than seven years apart. We talked about everything from our shared (and sometimes strange) homeschool memories to the challenges of parenting, living with ADHD, and rethinking the faith we grew up with.

In this episode, we covered:

✔️ Reuniting after seven years – Catching up on life, family, and everything in between

✔️ Growing up in a creative homeschool family – Field trips, music studios, and zero structure

✔️ ADHD in adulthood – How Katrin works with her brain, not against it

✔️ Questioning faith & parenting with intention – Letting go of fear-based beliefs and raising free thinkers

If you grew up homeschooled, are a parent figuring it out as you go, or just love a real, reflective convo – you won’t want to miss this one.

What I’m reading

I’ll confess that I’ve been slacking on my pleasure reading lately and been more focused on keeping up on industry newsletters.

But, I’m picking up “The Paris Apartment” by Lucy Foley this weekend. If you enjoy murder mystery as much as I do, Lucy’s books are worth the read.

What I’m listening to

I’m gonna be a little biased again this week but I did another podcast guesting spot that I’d love for you to check out.

I was on the Spiritualpreneur to talk about the behind the scenes of podcasting.

Talk to ya soon…

Peace out ex-homies!
