Can You Believe 2025 Is Almost Over?
Ex-Homeschoolers Club Issue #19

Happy Monday Ex-homies…
Can you believe it’s already December!!! I got my Spotify Wrapped and was like, “2025 can’t be over already! AGH!” It feels like time is flying and I can’t keep up.
But I’m excited for 2026 and the future of the Ex-Homeschoolers Club. I’ve got some fun ideas in the works…but shhhhh…they’re a secret right now. If you’ve got ideas for things you’d like to see in the club, shoot me an email ([email protected]) and let me know.
On the last episode…
I had an eye-opening conversation with former public school teacher turned full-time traveler Patti Hunt. We unpack what teachers actually think about homeschoolers, how kids learn differently, and the moment that pushed Patti to stop waiting and start living. It’s honest, encouraging, and surprisingly emotional.
In this episode:
The myths homeschoolers often believe about public school
Why funding, not teachers, is the real issue
How travel helped Patti rethink education entirely
The families road-schooling their kids across America
A powerful reminder to stop waiting for “someday”
What I’m reading…
The motivation to read has been tough these last few weeks. I feel like, I sit down with every intention to pick up a book and 30 minutes later, I’m scrolling on my phone, playing video games, or simply taking a nap.
That being said, I have made some progress in my latest read “Hell Bent: How the Fear of Hell Holds Christians Back from a Spirituality of Love” by Brian Recker.
A big question that it’s got me wrestling with is… “Is my childhood view of hell a biblical view of hell?” And to be honest, I don’t think it was. See, I grew up believing that hell was an eternal place that the unbelievers were sent to when they died. It was eternal torment (maybe not with pitchforks and fire) but separation from God was torment because it meant separation from all things good, kind, and gentle.
If this is something you’d want to hear me talk more about, send me an email at [email protected] and let me know…maybe I’ll do an episode on this book.
If you want to keep up with my current reads, follow me over on Fable. I track all my reads and even leave some book reviews from time to time.
Something cool I found…
The thrift gods smiled down on me this weekend and I found 2 books that I’ve been wanting to pick up.
If you don’t remember, earlier in the year, I read “Keep Going” by Austin Kleon. Well, has 2 additional books “Steal Like An Artist” and “Show Your Work”. His books are about the creative process and making things that not only you like but that others will resonate with. Highly recommended adds to your TBR list for 2026.

Until next time…
Have a wonderful week with peace and love,
Jacob G
