Hey There Ex-homies…
Things have been busy over here in the EXHS Studio. We’re getting more interviews scheduled and recorded. Working on some fun collaborations. And gearing up for 2026 to be the best year for the club.
If you’ve got any ideas you want to see this year, send me an email with your ideas.
On the last episode…
I sat down with Kayla Mathieu to talk about her family’s roadschooling journey and how travel, nature, and flexibility transformed the way her kids learn and grow. From visiting all 50 states to discovering personalized learning styles, Kayla shares what homeschooling looks like outside traditional classrooms.
In this episode, we covered:
Roadschooling across America – How travel became a classroom and shaped real-world learning
Learning style flexibility – Adapting education for kids with different needs and rhythms
Nature and nervous system regulation – Why outdoor experiences can support emotional health
Homeschool myths and community – Breaking stereotypes about isolation and finding support
Advice for homeschooling families – Giving yourself grace while discovering what works
What I’m reading…
A few weeks ago we had Tess Ulrey, Executive Director of the Coalition for Responsible Home Education, on the show.
Since then, I’ve been reading through their Homeschooling’s Invisible Children Report, and it’s been eye-opening.
Did you know that “47 states do not prevent caregivers convicted of crimes against children from homeschooling.”
This was an insane thing to learn and is a good reminder that homeschooling is due for some regulation.
What I'm Watching…
I recently discovered the Un•Religiously YouTube channel and Lauren’s recent video on Homeschool TikTok was worth the share.
There’s a lot of takes and views in here and I’d love to know which resonates the most with you. Shoot me an email and let me know
Until next time…
I hope you have a wonderful week! Remember to be kind to one another!
With peace and love,
Jacob G
