Ex-Homeschoolers Club Issue #20

Happy Monday Ex-homies…
I’ve got a favor to ask, go vote for the podcast over on The Pod Radar. Every week, they compile a list of new podcasts for people to check out and vote on their favorites. So if you’ve got a few minutes I’d appreciate you going over and engaging with our page.
On the last episode…
This week on The Ex-Homeschoolers Club, I sat down with Robin to talk about what happens when homeschooling leaves the house and hits the open road. From living full-time in an RV to navigating dyslexia, autism, and emotional regulation, Robin shares what homeschooling really looked like when flexibility became non-negotiable.
In this episode, we covered:
Why a rotating pilot schedule led to homeschooling
What RV life teaches you about flexibility and learning styles
Recognizing and supporting dyslexia and neurodivergence
Regulation tools that helped everyone survive small-space living
Why understanding how kids learn matters more than the curriculum
If you want a real-world look at homeschooling beyond the Pinterest boards, this episode is for you.
What I’m reading…
![]() | My most recent read is “Ejaculate Responsibly: A Whole New Way To Think About Abortion” by Gabrielle Blair. If you’re anything like me, (raised in the purity culture movement and very little sex-ed), this is a MUST read! Most men (myself included), don’t know how much responsibility we hold when it comes to unwanted pregnancy and it’s time that changed. GET INFORMED!!! |
If you want to keep up with my current reads, follow me over on Fable. I track all my reads and even leave some book reviews from time to time.
What I'm Watching…
I finally broke down and started watching Shiny Happy People. Season 1 is a deep dive into the Dugger Family and the Institute in Basic Life Principles and it is a tough watch.
While most of the things in the show, seem to be religion at an extreme level, I watch this and can’t help but to relate to the purity culture, the authority complex, and wielding the bible as a weapon to benefit myself. It has me questioning, “Did I grow up in a cult?”
Until next time…
Have a wonderful week with peace and love,
Jacob G
