Life's Pretty Normal Right Now
Ex-Homeschoolers Club Issue #10
Well, it’s another week.
I don’t have much to say other than that. No great words of wisdom or major updates. It’s pretty status quo over here. So I won’t bore you with much more.
Hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter.
On last weeks episode…
I’m doing something a little different. I’m sharing how to become a guest on The Ex-Homeschoolers Club. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to share my story, but I don’t know where to start,” this episode is your roadmap. I’m pulling back the curtain on the interview process, the kinds of stories I’m looking for, and why your experience—yes, yours—deserves to be heard.
In this episode, I cover:
Why your homeschool story matters (even if you think it’s “not that interesting”)
A full walkthrough of the guest process—from initial email to published episode
Topics I’m especially interested in: neurodivergence, purity culture, LGBTQ+ experiences, family dynamics, and more
Sample questions you’ll be asked (nothing scary, I promise)
How this show is about healing, connection, and paving a better path for the next generation of homeschoolers
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to reach out and be part of the conversation—this is it.
What I’m reading…
I’m still on a tear to read through Josh Harris’s books. But boy, I’ve got to tell you these things are tough to read.
I’m currently about halfway through “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” and it’s left me with a feeling of sadness. I feel bad for this poor guy who got his heart broken and convinced himself and much of the christian community that dating was bad and needed to be avoided at all cost.
On the other hand, they also make me mad because I know that to many parents just handed their kids these books and left it up to them to interpret his arguments and we made some stupid decisions because of it.
I’ve got many more thoughts but those are coming in some future episodes.
What I’m doing…
If I haven’t said it before, I’m a person with a screwed up nervous system. I’ve got anxiety. I have depression. I struggle to sleep sometimes. I struggle to quiet my mind to focus on things that are important.
Thankfully, I have a friend who sent me on a journey to discover Yoga Nidra. If you’re not familiar, these exercises help to reset the nervous system and give your body the relaxation it needs. The great thing is they can be as short or as long as you need.
But don’t just take my word for it; try it yourself.
Until Next Time…
Thanks for the support!
Peace & Love
